Hey folks. I am Andy, your fast walking guide to the New York City Audio Tour, Midtown East Gems. Get ready to peel back the layers of this beautiful island. Just take in the glorious chaos around you. Listen to the hum of the yellow cabs, smell the sweet roasted nuts from the street carts, and look up at the dizzying heights of the stone skyscrapers.
We have eleven stops today. We will find a hidden waterfall right in the middle of the hustle, pass by the Museum of Modern Art, and eventually wind up at the legendary Plaza Hotel, where high society has been throwing tantrums and sipping champagne for over a century.
My voice will start automatically as you approach each landmark, but if the app gets stage fright, just manually click play. If you feel lost at any point, just look at the map on your app. I also love a good question, so feel free to use the chat section below at each stop.
Since we are visiting some gorgeous sanctuaries like Saint Thomas Church on this route, please dress appropriately out of respect. And keep your wits about you out here. Midtown locals treat the sidewalk like an Olympic race track, so watch out for those absolutely silent electric delivery bikes when you cross the street.
If you are ready to dive in, head over to our first stop, Paley Park, to begin the tour.
