London
London, the vibrant capital of England and the United Kingdom, is steeped in nearly 2,000 years of history. Nestled on the banks of the River Thames, this city has evolved from a Roman settlement, known as Londinium, into one of the world's most influential and culturally diverse metropolises.
The origins of London trace back to around 47 AD when the Romans established Londinium as a strategic trading post. Despite facing destruction in 61 AD during an uprising led by Queen Boudica of the Iceni tribe, the city was rebuilt and prospered, becoming a key hub in the Roman province of Britannia.
