Hello, I am Adam. Welcome to the Colmar Audio Tour: Saints, Altarpieces and Hidden Centre Centre Tales. Think of me as your easygoing walking companion, ready to share the peculiar stories that make this place tick. Colmar is a sensory delight. As we walk, you will smell the rich aroma of fresh pastries escaping from ancient half-timbered shops and hear the echo of footsteps along the twisting alleyways.
We have fifteen stops ahead of us today. Together we will uncover the mysteries of the Issenheim altarpiece, admire the slanted roofs of Rue des merchants, and visit the historic Collegiate Saint-Martin. Because we are exploring several religious and sensitive spaces, please ensure you are dressed appropriately with your shoulders and knees covered. Keep an eye on those notoriously uneven cobblestones, too, so you do not trip while admiring the architecture of Centre Centre.
The app will start my stories automatically as you approach each landmark, but you can always manually click play if the audio decides to take a coffee break. If you feel lost in the maze of streets, simply check the map on your screen. Whenever curiosity strikes, you can ask me questions about the landmarks in the chat section below.
If you have not already, please head over to our first stop, the Monument to General Rapp, and we will begin.
