Hello, and welcome to Asheville Audio Tour: Tastes, Tales and Treasures of the Mountain Metropolis. I’m Alma... and I’ll be your companion for this walk through fifteen beautiful stops in Asheville. We’ll wander past old brick fronts and graceful stonework, catch the smell of coffee and good cooking in the air, and listen for the little city music all around us... footsteps, voices, a passing bus, maybe a guitar somewhere nearby.
At a few stops, you’ll taste Asheville’s story in special ways... from the comfort and charm of Tupelo Honey Cafe, to the grand old lines of the S and W Cafeteria, to the glowing spirit of places like Grove Arcade and the Basilica of Saint Lawrence.
As you approach each landmark, I’ll begin speaking automatically... but if the audio does not start, you can always tap play yourself. If you feel turned around, just open the map in the app. At every stop, you can ask me questions in the chat below, and I’ll be right here with you. For religious or sensitive places, please dress respectfully. And as you walk, keep an eye on traffic, use crosswalks, watch for uneven sidewalks and hills, and stay aware of your surroundings.
If you haven’t already, head to our first stop, Tupelo Honey Cafe, and let’s begin.
