As you wander through St Albans, picture yourself standing where knights once clashed, monks once prayed, and revelers once raised a glass (or two). You’ll stroll cobbled lanes, breathe in the scent of fresh grass in old parks, and sometimes even feel a chill as you stand beneath the shadow of the imposing Clock Tower.
I’ll start telling you tales as you get close to each stop. But if the magic doesn’t kick in automatically, just tap “play”. Lost? No worries-open the handy map on your app and you’ll find your way. Curious about something? Ask me a question in the chat right below at any time-I'm here to bring every legend and secret to life.
Parts of this tour take you by old churches and sensitive sites. When we visit places like the Cathedral or St Michael's Church, please dress modestly-no hats inside, and best to cover shoulders if you step in.
St Albans is wonderfully walkable, but do mind the traffic (cars can sneak up on these winding streets), look out for uneven paving, and watch your step-some of these paths have been here since Roman times! And, if the rain clouds sneak in, have an umbrella handy.
Now, if you haven’t already, head toward our first stop-the very field where a battle changed English history-and get ready to discover St Albans as you’ve never seen it before. Let’s step into the story together!
