Steyr is not subtle. You’ll see that soon enough at Saint Mary’s Church, in the broad theater of the Town Square, and up by Lamberg Castle, where the walls seem to know they’ve been admired for centuries.
As you approach each landmark, I’ll start talking automatically, but if the audio does not begin, just tap play yourself. If the lanes start twisting you around, open the map in the app. At every stop, you can ask me questions in the chat below.
For religious and sensitive places, like churches and cemeteries, dress and behave respectfully. Otherwise, sensible walking clothes will do. Watch for uneven cobblestones, street traffic, bicycles in narrow lanes, and steep or worn steps near older sites. Charming cities do enjoy mild sabotage.
If you haven’t already, head to Saint Mary’s Church, our first stop, and let’s begin.
