Pawtucket, a city known for its vibrant culture and rich history, was officially founded in 1671. Nestled on the banks of the Blackstone River in Rhode Island, it quickly became a hub for early American industry. The city’s name is derived from the Narragansett word "pawtucket," which means "the place where the tide falls."

In the early 19th century, Pawtucket experienced significant growth, largely due to its strategic location and the advent of the Industrial Revolution. The construction of the Pawtucket Falls and the subsequent establishment of textile mills attracted a wave of immigrants and entrepreneurs. In 1824, the first successful water-powered cotton spinning mill was built, setting the stage for Pawtucket’s reputation as "the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution."
