Hello, adventurer! Welcome to Sacramento Audio Tour: Stories Beneath Midtown’s Timeworn Walls. I'm Andy, your digital tour guide-think of me as your friendly companion, but, sadly, with no legs to get tired! As we journey through the streets of Midtown Sacramento, I’ll be your storyteller, your local history buff, and yes, the giver of the occasional very bad joke. (Don’t worry-they’re all historically accurate… sort of!)
You’re stepping into a neighborhood where history peeks out from every brick, where you might smell coffee drifting from a corner café, and where quiet trees shade timeworn buildings. We have eight stops ahead, and each one is packed with stories-some serious, some silly, all waiting for a curious explorer like you.
Soon, you might stand in front of the quirky Thomas Jefferson School or pass the famous Sutter’s Fort, hearing tales of old Sacramento and the characters that shaped these streets. You’ll hear secrets about theatres and cathedrals. Maybe you’ll even brush up against a ghost story-don’t worry, they only appear after bad puns.
Here’s how the tour works: as you get close to each landmark, I’ll automatically jump in to tell you all about it. But if I’m feeling shy (or the audio doesn't start), simply tap the play button. You’ll see a handy map in the app-use it if you ever start feeling like Sacramento’s famous fog has descended on your sense of direction.
At each stop, you can ask me anything about the place-just use the chat below, and I’ll do my best not to make up any answers… unless you ask for a tall tale!
A couple of things to help our journey: when we visit a place like Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, it’s kind to dress respectfully. And while Midtown is a friendly, walkable area, keep an eye out at street crossings, watch your step along uneven sidewalks, and stay hydrated-especially during those warm Sacramento afternoons!
If you haven’t already, make your way to our grand starting point: Thomas Jefferson School. The adventure (and the bad jokes) begin there. Ready to uncover the secrets of Midtown Sacramento? Let’s set off!
