We’re about to explore the very heart of Downtown Phoenix, home to soaring skyscrapers, legends from the wild west, spicy salsa, and a whole lot of sun. Imagine the scent of blooming desert flowers in the air, and that warm Arizona breeze on your face as we stroll from stunning glass towers to historic hidden gems. You might even hear the faint sizzle of street tacos in the distance-don’t worry, I won’t judge if you make a pit stop for a snack!
Our adventure is made up of 15 awesome stops. We’ll start at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, where the future of media takes shape, and wind our way past places like the sky-high Chase Tower, the art deco charm of Luhrs Tower, and even the peaceful beauty of St. Mary’s Basilica, where a little respect and modest dress are appreciated.
Here’s how it works: as you walk, your phone will play info about each landmark when you get close. If it doesn’t, feel free to hit play manually-sometimes technology needs a little nudge, just like me before my morning coffee. If you get turned around, the tour map will be your North Star. And if you have questions or want a fun fact about what you’re seeing, open the chat and ask away! I’m always here to help.
A couple of quick tips before we set off: Downtown Phoenix is safe, but as you would in any city, stay aware of your surroundings, especially at crosswalks-those light rail trains move fast! Bring some water, wear sunscreen (the sun is almost as enthusiastic as I am), and keep your valuables secure.
If you haven’t already, make your way to the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication-it’s our first stop and the launchpad for our adventure. Get ready for a journey filled with history, tall tales, dazzling buildings, and maybe a laugh or two along the way. Let’s discover the magic of Phoenix together-are you ready to get started?
