Coral Gables, often referred to as “The City Beautiful,” was founded in the early 1920s by George E. Merrick, a visionary developer. Inspired by the Mediterranean revival architectural style, Merrick sought to create a community that would offer residents a blend of natural beauty and urban conveniences. The city was officially incorporated on April 29, 1925, and quickly became known for its picturesque landscapes and luxurious homes.
