You’re staring up at one of Dubai’s most dizzying works of art-Cayan Tower! But don’t worry, you haven’t accidentally spun around in circles; that twist is real. This 306-meter marvel was once called Infinity Tower, and with 75 floors, it claimed the title of the tallest twisted building in the world in 2013-imagine the view from the top! The architects wanted to blow people’s minds, so every single floor is rotated 1.2 degrees, making the whole thing spiral 90 degrees as it stretches toward the clouds. It’s like the building is doing the world’s slowest dance move-take that, regular skyscrapers!
But, as every good tale goes, there were obstacles. Construction was rocking along until, one day, the wall keeping the Dubai Marina back cracked wide open. Suddenly, sand and water gushed in, turning the site into a giant soup. It took a year and a half before they could dry out the mess and get back to twisting the dream up to the sky.
Cayan Tower is more than just a pretty face. Inside, you’ll find reconstituted wooden floors, Chinese synthetic marble countertops, and kitchens made for kings and queens-plus five levels of parking just to keep things practical. The designers also thought about the scorching Dubai sun. Special titanium-colored metal panels and staggering screens stop the sunlight from blinding the residents-so you get all the view, none of the squint!
On launch night, the city lit up with fireworks and dazzling lasers, making the tower glow like it was entering the world’s fanciest party. And in case you wondered about the name switch-it turns out “Infinity” was a little too popular, so the developers crowned this twisty wonder with its own unique name, Cayan Tower.
