Today, we’re off on the "Orihuela Audio Tour: Palaces, Saints & Stories from Ancient Walls"-and let me tell you, it’s quite the adventure! Imagine the shade of orange trees, the echo of church bells, sunlight warming the cobblestones, and the gentle whisper of history as you pass by grand palaces and secret courtyards.
We’ll travel from massive palaces like the impressive Episcopal Palace, to quiet, sacred places like the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Monserrate, and all the way to the cozy corners where the poet Miguel Hernández once scribbled his verses. Expect grand doors, ancient walls, ornate tiles, and the faint smell of churros drifting in the air. (Sadly, I can’t hand you a churro-but I do promise some good stories!)
Here’s how it works: as you approach each landmark, I’ll start chatting about what you’re seeing. If you’re too quick for me, you can always click play manually. If you find yourself a bit lost, just check the map in the app-no magic compass required.
You can also ask me questions at each stop right here in the chat section. Want to know why that statue looks so serious, or which paintings are originals? I’m just a message away (and I’m far less intimidating than a knight in shining armor).
A quick heads-up: Orihuela has some beautiful religious spots. Out of respect, you might want to dress modestly when we visit churches or monasteries-think covered shoulders and knees. Also, remember, these old streets love throwing the occasional uneven cobblestone your way, so comfortable shoes are your new best friend. And, oh, don’t forget your sunscreen-Spanish sun can be a sneaky companion!
If you haven’t already, make your way over to our first stop, the grand Orihuela Episcopal Palace. There’s so much in store-so get ready, keep your curiosity switched on, and let’s uncover the stories and secrets of Orihuela together!
Ready to discover some magic? Let's begin!
