Get ready to wander through one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating neighborhoods-Fez’s Medina. Picture this: winding alleys alive with history, the scent of spices swirling in the air, and the distant hum of artisans tapping away. We’ll step back in time to meet scholars, sultans, and silk traders, and-don’t worry-I’ll do all the talking (so you can keep your map hand free!).
We’ve got 15 stops planned, each one with its own story. You’ll gaze up at the blue-tiled beauty of Bab Bou Jeloud, watch leather being dyed at the Chouara Tannery, and maybe even get lost (just a little) among the ancient souks of Fes el Bali. But don’t worry: if you do take a wrong turn, just check the map in the app to find your way back. That’s your digital safety rope!
As you walk, I’ll start telling you about each landmark when you get close-or, if I fall asleep on the job (it happens to the best of us), you can simply click play yourself. And if curiosity strikes-a local legend, a fun fact, or just “Andy, which way is the best baklava?”-type your question into the chat below and I’ll answer right away.
We’re visiting some religious and sensitive sites, like mosques and madrasas, so please be respectful: dress modestly by covering your shoulders and knees.
A couple things to keep in mind for your stroll: watch out for motorbikes and speedy donkeys-they don’t stop for anyone, not even me! Keep your valuables close, stay hydrated, and be ready for the unexpected charm (and gentle chaos) that defines the medina.
If you haven’t already, head over to our very first stop: the magnificent Cherratine Madrasa. The adventure’s about to begin. Ready to step into a world echoing with history? Let's go!
