And here we are... outside the Scottish Rite Temple, our last stop. Santa Fe has a way of doing that... making a finish line feel like a front porch.
We started at the Bataan Memorial Building, where the stone and the stories carry real weight. Then we threaded our way past the Supreme Court, the Playhouse, and the Capitol... places where words turn into laws, and laws turn into daily life. Nothing dramatic there, except, you know... everything.
We stepped into older Santa Fe at San Miguel Mission and the Barrio de Analco... where the streets feel like they remember your footsteps. We stood by the Cathedral and watched the light hit the stone like it was made for it. And out on the Plaza... the Palace of the Governors, the Soldiers’ Monument, La Fonda... all those layers stacked up like pages you can’t quite stop reading.
We even paid our respects to paperwork and power at the courthouse... because every good vacation needs at least one building that looks like it can sentence you to something.
And then the Lensic, and now this place... the Scottish Rite Temple... where Santa Fe shows off that special talent of being both serious and strange in the best way. Solid walls, big dreams, sharp angles, soft shadows. A town that keeps its history close, but never lets it get in the way of a good story.
If you’re feeling that little tug in your chest right now... that’s normal. Santa Fe does that. It doesn’t just show you where things happened... it makes you feel like you were almost there when they did.
Take one more look around before you go. Notice the color of the sky. The way the air feels. The hush between footsteps. This place has a calm kind of confidence... like it’s seen plenty, survived plenty, and still has room for you.
Thanks for walking with me. Thanks for listening. And if Santa Fe follows you home a little... don’t worry. That’s not a glitch in the app... it’s just how the city works.
Until next time... keep your eyes up, your pace easy, and your curiosity switched on. Santa Fe likes that kind of traveler.
