Hey there! I am Aria, and I am so incredibly thrilled to be your guide today. Welcome to the Pittsburgh Audio Tour, Steel Giants and Cultural Gems of Downtown! Can you smell that? It is a mix of fresh river breezes, roasting coffee from the corner shops, and the rich metallic history of this incredible city buzzing right under our feet.
We are exploring fourteen amazing spots today. We will soak in the brilliant legacy of jazz and storytelling at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, feel the towering presence of the U.S. Steel Tower, and step into the gorgeous sanctuary of Trinity Cathedral. Every corner here vibrates with the rhythm of old school blues, immigrant traditions, and the hustle of the Steel City.
As you walk, my voice will pop in automatically as you approach each landmark... but you can always hit play yourself if the audio does not start right away. Look at the map on the app if you feel lost at any point, and remember you can ask me questions about the landmarks in the chat section below. Because we are visiting Trinity Cathedral today, please make sure you are dressed appropriately to enter a religious space. Also, the Central Business District is super walkable, but those intersections get busy with commuters and buses, so always keep your eyes on the traffic while you are looking up at the beautiful architecture.
Alright, let us get moving! Follow your map and head on over to our very first stop, the August Wilson African American Cultural Center, to begin the tour.
