Welcome to Palm Springs!

headphones 02:25

Hello and welcome to your Palm Springs Audio Tour: Art, Icons, and Legends of the Desert! I’m Andy, your digital tour guide-or should I say, your trusty talking backpack for this desert adventure. Don’t worry, I won’t weigh you down or suddenly start singing “I Will Survive” (unless you really want me to).

You’re about to step into a place where the sun shines brighter, the palm trees seem to dance in the breeze, and every corner hides a wild story-some true, most of them true, and a few that are so wild you’ll have to decide for yourself. We’ll wander through art installations like Artificial Rock Number 131 (don’t worry, it’s more exciting than it sounds-unless you’re a geologist, in which case, congratulations!), stroll past statues and stars, and even brush shoulders with legends (well, their footprints at least).

Here in Palm Springs, you’ll find the air is warm and dry-think hair dryer on “gentle breeze” mode, and that’s on a cool day. I recommend sunscreen, water, and maybe a hat that says, “Yes, I enjoy both style and hydration.” Good walking shoes are a must; unless you’re going for “fashionably lost” on the Walk of the Stars.

Just a few quick tips before we take off: - I’ll start telling you about each landmark as you approach it. If I get shy and don’t speak up automatically, just tap “play” yourself! - If you ever feel like you’re lost, just check the map in the app-it’s less judgmental than asking for directions. - Got a burning question at any stop? Hit up the chat section below and ask away-I promise not to send you any riddles. - There are no religious or super sensitive stops on this tour, so just dress for the weather and your comfort-no need for anything fancy unless you’re doing your own Oscar acceptance speech on the Plaza Theatre steps. - Palm Springs sidewalks can heat up quickly, so mind your steps, drink plenty, and give the cacti some space-they may look cuddly, but they’re all pin and no hug.

Ready to discover some desert magic, wild tales, and a few surprises? If you haven’t already, make your way to our very first stop: the mysterious, marvel-worthy Artificial Rock Number 131. The adventure starts there-and trust me, you haven’t truly met Palm Springs until you chat with its rocks.

Let’s get walking-your desert story is about to begin!

format_quote This tour was such a great way to see the city. The stories were interesting without feeling too scripted, and I loved being able to explore at my own pace.

format_quote This was a solid way to get to know Brighton without feeling like a tourist. The narration had depth and context, but didn't overdo it.
