Here, at this very spot, they came together to build a church, their second, more permanent house of worship. You’d have heard the creak of wooden beams, the voices of settlers led by Rev. Van Raalte, and the steady guidance of Jacobus Schrader, who knew more about windmills but still somehow wrangled this stately Greek Revival masterpiece into being.
