York’s streets are packed with adventure. Picture the scent of roasted coffee floating out of hidden cafés, the echo of footsteps on ancient stones, and the sight of medieval towers guarding the skyline. On this tour, you’ll stroll through leafy museum gardens where Romans once marched, marvel at massive monuments, and stand where Vikings dreamed up their next conquests (and, possibly, their next beard styles).
There are fifteen stops awaiting you. At the mighty York Minster, you’ll see spires stretch up into the clouds. At the Jorvik Viking Centre, get ready for tales of swords and sagas-don’t worry, I promise not to make you eat pickled fish. And at peaceful spots like St Olave’s Church, you’ll sample York’s quieter side too. I’ll pop up with stories and fun facts each time you arrive at a landmark. If for some reason I go quiet and the tour doesn’t start playing automatically, just tap the play button and I’ll find my voice again.
If you ever lose your way (happens to the best Vikings), use the map in your app. And if you have questions, send me a message in the chat below. I’m fast-faster than a Roman legion on coffee.
When we arrive at places of worship, like St Olave’s or the York Oratory, please dress respectfully-save the horned helmet for outside!
Walking around York is usually safe, but watch for cyclists (they’re quicker than the longboats ever were) and don’t forget to mind the uneven cobblestones. These stones have seen more stories than I can tell in a day!
If you haven't already, head to the North Eastern Railway War Memorial-our first time-travel portal. Get ready to step through history. Let’s let the adventure begin!
