Get ready for a one-of-a-kind walk through Charlotteville, Guildford, where cobbled streets meet leafy trees, and the sound of distant church bells blends with the laughter from nearby cafes. The air might smell lightly of fresh bread from a bakery or maybe the unmistakable tang of old stone after a bit of rain. In other words, you’re in for a treat for all the senses!
In this adventure, you’ll discover some of Guildford’s most remarkable sites. Imagine starting with the famous Rodboro Buildings, an old car factory turned landmark-don’t worry, there’s no danger of getting splashed by motor oil! We’ll tiptoe past historic churches, lively theatres, secret chapels, and then gaze up at the grand G Live, where music fills the night air. With thirteen stops in total, you’ll meet Guildford’s quirky side, its noble past, and maybe even a ghost or two-if they feel like socializing, that is.
As you walk, here’s how it works: As you get close to each landmark, I’ll pop up and start chatting about what you’re seeing, a bit like that friend who can’t help but point things out. If for some reason you don’t hear me start, just hit play on the app and I’ll jump right in! If you get lost, don’t panic-the map in the app will lead you back on track. And if you have questions at any stop, just type them into the chat below-I’m always up for a challenge!
A quick note: We’ll visit a few sensitive spots, like St Nicolas Church, Holy Trinity Church, and the Guildford Synagogue. Out of respect, please dress modestly and act thoughtfully if you go inside. Leave the flip-flops and beach shorts for another day!
Please also watch out for traffic-those Guildford drivers can be speedy. Mind the curbs, and keep your valuables secure. And remember, you’re in Surrey, so an umbrella might be your best friend; our famous English weather loves a surprise.
So, lace up your walking shoes, charge that phone, and if you haven’t already, head over to our first stop, the Rodboro Buildings. Adventure and history await-let’s stroll back in time, shall we?
