We’ll be wandering through Kingsmead, right at the heart of Bath-where ancient bridges cross the Avon, echoes of Roman baths linger in the air, and, believe it or not, where a Stargazer took his big chance and discovered Uranus! Don't worry, no telescopes or togas required; just your curiosity and maybe a comfy pair of shoes.
As you stroll, I’ll start talking automatically when you reach each landmark. If I get a little too shy and don’t speak up, just tap play, and I’ll be there instantly. Feeling unsure about where to go? Check the map on your app! I promise, even I never get lost... unless someone’s moved the Abbey overnight.
There are 15 stops on our adventure. We’ll begin with the stunning Pulteney Bridge-a masterpiece over the Avon, perfect for a riverside photo (or a quick snack). Later, we’ll gaze up at the soaring towers of Bath Abbey and finish at the old Green Park railway station, where Victorian travelers once bustled to catch their steam trains. Along the way, you’ll hear tales of gorgons, Georgian architects, cosmic breakthroughs, love, scandal, and maybe a ghost or two (don’t worry, they’re the friendly kind).
You can ask me anything about each spot in the chat below-no question is too small or too silly, I promise. And a polite reminder: at a few religious stops, like Bath Abbey or St. John’s Church, please dress modestly and respect those who might be there to worship-a little courtesy goes a long way.
While Kingsmead is usually lively and safe, watch out for traffic, keep your belongings close, and if you’re stopping for ice cream, beware of seagulls with a sweet tooth-they’re infamous around here!
If you haven’t already, make your way to Pulteney Bridge, our very first stop. Ready to step into Bath’s stories, past and present? Our adventure begins right now-I can almost hear the river calling. Let’s go exploring!
