Imagine the fresh North Sea breeze rustling the trees, the distant sound of church bells, and the unmistakable scent of old stone and blossoming gardens. That’s Old Aberdeen-a place where every corner has a secret, and every granite building tells a story (sometimes with a Scottish accent).
We’ll start outside the historic Bede House, once home to charity and mystery. Soon, you’ll come face-to-face with the striking glass design of the Sir Duncan Rice Library, the grand heart of the University of Aberdeen, and the ancient arches of Christ’s College. There’ll be tales of scholars, saints, and a few quirky legends along the way. And for those of you worried about missing your cue, I’ll start talking as you get close to each landmark. Feeling a bit lost at any point? Don’t panic-just check the map in the app. At each stop, if you’ve got questions or just want to chat (or tell me your favorite Scottish joke), drop your thoughts in the chat section below.
A heads-up: The tour includes a visit to Aberdeen Mosque and Islamic Centre. Out of respect, please dress modestly-think sleeves and long trousers or skirts. Otherwise, just bring comfy shoes and maybe an umbrella (Aberdeen weather likes surprises).
One last bit-Aberdeen’s streets can be a bit uneven, and some spots get breezy, so watch your step, mind those ancient curbstones, and keep a jacket handy.
If you haven’t already, wander over to our first stop at Bede House-and get ready to explore the stories, secrets, and echoes that roam these timeless streets. Let’s begin our odyssey!
