Hello. I am Axel. Welcome to the Murcia Audio Tour, Cultural Gems. I have a deep appreciation for solid engineering, clever design, and buildings that manage not to fall down over the centuries. Which is always a plus.
We have fourteen stops ahead. We will examine the sweeping stone arches of the Episcopal Palace, the brilliant structural details of the Cathedral Museum, and the Casino of Murcia... which is not a gambling hall at all. A clever bit of false advertising.
Soon, you will smell sweet roasting almonds drifting from street carts, hear the sharp echo of footsteps on old cobblestones, and see layers of architectural problem solving woven into the fabric of the city.
I will start speaking automatically as you approach each landmark. If I stay quiet, simply click play manually. If the winding streets confuse you, check the map on your app. You can also ask me questions in the chat section below at any point.
Because we are visiting several historic churches, please ensure your shoulders and knees are covered. The structures may be heavenly, but the dress codes are strictly earthly. Please also watch your pockets in busy squares, and mind the uneven stones beneath your feet. Gravity is completely unforgiving.
If you have not already done so, make your way to our first stop at the Paseo del Malecón so we can begin.
