Cuenca
The name Cuenca may stem from the Latin word conca, meaning "river basin." This reference alludes to its picturesque location between the gorges of the Júcar and Huécar rivers. Alternatively, it could derive from the Arabic castle "Kunka." Historically, Cuenca has also been linked with names like Anitorgis, Sucro, or Concava. Due to its dramatic cliffside perch, Cuenca is often affectionately referred to as the "Eagle's Nest."
