Imagine cobblestone streets echoing with stories, the scent of roasted coffee drifting from old cafés, and grand bridges that whisk you across deep, dramatic gorges. Alcoy is a city where past and present dance together - and you’re about to discover all its best moves.
We’ve got 13 fascinating stops ahead, from soaring bridges and age-old factories to lively plazas. For example, at the San Roque Bridge (our very first stop), you’ll get sweeping views and the chance to start your adventure on a high note - literally! Later, you’ll pass by treasures like quiet medieval towers and grand museums (and at one stop, you’ll be so close to the world’s oldest firefighter equipment, you might want to yell “hose-a la vista!”).
Here’s how it works: as you approach each landmark, I’ll pop up to share stories, facts, and a dash of curiosity with you. If for some reason I don’t start talking, just click play manually. And if you feel a bit lost - don’t panic! Just take a peek at the app’s map to get back on track.
If you’re ever wondering about a building, a sign, or Alcoy’s curious traditions, tap into the chat below and ask me anything. I love a good question - almost as much as I love a good pastry.
A friendly tip: for one or two stops, like beautiful old churches, it’s polite to dress modestly - cover shoulders and knees if you plan to pop inside. Alcoy is very walkable, but watch out for cobbled streets and steep slopes (your shoes and ankles will thank you). Oh, and the weather can change its mind faster than a flamenco dancer, so maybe bring a light jacket or umbrella just in case.
If you haven’t already, make your way towards our first stop - the historic San Roque Bridge. Take a deep breath, listen to the city buzz, and get ready to travel through time!
Let’s start exploring - history is just around the corner, and I’m excited to share it with you!
