¡Hola and welcome! I’m Andy, your digital tour guide and part-time joke teller (don’t worry-my jokes are better than my sense of direction). Get ready to step into the cobbled streets and sun-warmed plazas of Alcalá de Henares, a place bursting with stories, legends, and more history than you can wave a churro at.
We’re about to wander through Distrito I’s finest treasures. Imagine this: the air smells faintly of fresh bread and roasted coffee; swallows swoop over handsome squares; echoes of poets and professors seem to linger around every corner. Along the way, you’ll discover painted sculptures under open skies, peek at palatial doorways that kings and archbishops once marched through, marvel at medieval stonework, and maybe even rub elbows with a literary giant or two-watch out for Don Quixote’s windmills!
You’ll hear me start talking as you reach each landmark-sort of like a friendly ghost, but with better travel tips. But if the audio doesn’t start on its own, just tap ‘play’ in the app and I’ll jump right in. Lost? No worries-the map is just a tap away, and if you need to escape from the streets and into questions, there’s a chat right below. I love answering!
A quick heads up: when we visit the cathedral and certain convents, please dress respectfully-covering shoulders and knees is usually a safe bet. Everywhere else, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a bottle of water are your best friends.
Streets here can be a little uneven, so watch your step, especially if you get distracted staring up at beautiful balconies… or trying to spot celebrity storks nesting above you. Alcalá is usually safe, but keep an eye on your belongings in crowded spots-pickpockets are no myth!
So, if you’re not already standing in O’Donnell Park-the leafy oasis that’s our first stop-make your way there and let’s begin this adventure. There’s a lot to discover, a bit to laugh about, and more than a few secrets waiting for you among these old stones.
Ready? Let’s make history come alive-or at least give it a good tickle!
