Ciao and a big, sun-soaked welcome to Palermo! I’m Andy, your digital tour guide for today-ready to walk beside you (well, virtually) as we discover the royal gates, sacred stones, and secret corners of this colorful Sicilian city.
Think of me as your chatty local friend who’s got all the stories…but I promise not to walk faster than you! We’re about to wander past grand cathedrals, ancient palazzos, and even some spots where knights, kings, and a few sneaky lizards once lingered. Don’t be surprised if you hear the distant chime of church bells or smell a hint of fresh cannoli in the air-Palermo loves to tempt your senses.
Here’s how it works: as you stroll up to each landmark, I’ll start sharing its magic with you, straight through your headphones. If my voice doesn’t pop up automatically, just tap the play button for a quick hello. Lost? No need to fear-you can always check the app’s map and get back on track.
Curious about the stories, the stones, or even where to find the best arancina? Pop your question into the chat below, and I’ll do my best to make you the most informed (and perhaps the most mischievous) explorer in town.
A quick note: many stops are simply bursting with history, but you’ll also visit a few religious sites, like Palermo Cathedral and Santa Chiara Church. On those stops, just dress with a touch of modesty-cover shoulders and knees if you can.
While you’re out and about, keep an eye on busy streets, mind your pockets (these winding alleys attract not just tourists but crafty pickpockets), and maybe don’t challenge any local grandmas to a bread-eating contest… you’ll lose, trust me.
If you haven’t already, make your way to our first stop, Piazza Indipendenza. I’ll be waiting for you there, ready to open Palermo’s gates to adventure. So, take a breath-can you smell orange blossoms and old stone? Let’s get started!
