Get ready for cobbled streets under your feet, seagulls calling in the distance, and the aroma of fresh bread from nearby bakeries. We’ve got 20 awesome stops ahead, full of centuries-old churches, mysterious vaults, and colorful merchant houses. At the Water Tor, you'll feel like you’ve entered a portal to the past, and at the Nikolaikirche you’ll see ceilings so high you might wonder how the builders didn’t get a nosebleed.
Here’s how it works: as you approach each landmark, I’ll pop in to tell you its best stories-think of me as your chatty sidekick, but with fewer pub stops. If you arrive at a landmark and don’t hear my voice, just tap play to start the audio manually. And if you ever feel like you’ve wandered off into the twilight zone, just check the map on the app!
Got questions as you admire those Gothic spires? Use the chat below to ask me anything about the sights, or even what I think about Wismar’s famous herring (spoiler: delicious).
A quick tip for a smooth trip: There are a few churches and former monasteries on our route, like Nikolaikirche and the Black Monastery. When we visit those, try to dress respectfully-nothing fancy, just shoulders covered and hats off inside, please.
Altstadt Wismar is beautiful, but the streets are old... and so is the pavement. Mind those uneven stones and the occasional impatient cyclist. Keep your belongings close-safe town, but it never hurts to zip the backpack.
So if you haven’t already, make your way to the Water Tor-our magical starting line-and get ready for stories, secrets, and maybe just a few laughs. Adventure awaits, and the Old Town can’t wait to meet you!
