As you stroll these sunny, historic streets, you might hear the distant echoes of Roman soldiers or the chime of ancient church bells. You’ll walk under blue skies, brush past centuries-old walls, and maybe-just maybe-imagine gladiators warming up at the Arena (don’t worry, no lions today).
There are 15 unforgettable stops on our adventure. From the grand arches of the Maison Carrée to the peaceful shade at St. Paul’s Church, and even a stroll by the grand Arena of Nîmes (where the Romans once invented the ‘sword-and-sandal’ epic). Along the way, we’ll wander through striking palaces, stand in awe at sacred churches, and even dive into the city’s museums.
Once you approach each landmark, I’ll pop up with stories, legends, and a splash of history. If the audio doesn’t play automatically, just tap the play button-and I’ll be right with you. Feeling a bit lost? The map in the app will gently nudge you back on track.
At each stop, if you want to know more-or want to quiz me about Roman sandals or church bells-just type your question into the chat below. I love a good challenge!
Important tips before we start: - For religious sites like St. Paul’s Church, Nîmes Cathedral, and Saint-Baudile Church, please dress respectfully-longer sleeves and covered knees are always a safe bet. - Watch your step on the old cobbles-Nîmes stones have tripped up more than one Julius Caesar lookalike. - Bring a bottle of water, and maybe a hat-the sun can be as fierce as a Roman centurion out here.
If you haven’t already, head over to our first stop: the graceful St. Paul’s Church of Nîmes. The adventure is about to begin. Ready? Let’s make history come alive together!
