Bonjour and welcome to Arles Audio Tour: Echoes of Time Along Les Alyscamps and Ancient Shores! I’m Andy, your digital tour guide for today-and don’t worry, I promise I’ll keep my robot jokes to a minimum. But I can’t guarantee I won’t try to make you laugh at least once (it’s part of my programming!).
Right now, imagine the soft sweep of the mistral wind, the crunch of ancient gravel underfoot, and the sun painting the stones golden all around you-welcome to Arles, where every street and shadow holds a story. On this journey, we’ll meander along Les Alyscamps, explore ruins that have watched over centuries, brush shoulders with Roman gladiators (in spirit, not literally-no need for a shield), and stroll through sites that once inspired Van Gogh himself.
We have 14 fantastic stops ahead, from the fascinating Musée Réattu-where art leaps right out at you-to the haunting Alyscamps necropolis, where history whispers between cypress trees. At every stop, I’ll chime in automatically when you’re close, but if I’m a little shy, just tap play and I’ll catch up!
Feeling lost? No problem-check your handy map on the app. If you’ve got burning questions or just want to chat about what you see, the chat below is always open; I love answering questions almost as much as I love ancient stones.
A quick note as we go: Some stops are churches or religious sites-so if you’re heading into one, be respectful with your clothing (cover those shoulders and knees). And while Les Alyscamps is truly enchanting, watch your step along the old, sometimes uneven paths, and maybe bring water if it’s a sunny day. Don’t try out your best chariot race impression unless you want to go home with a scraped knee!
Ready for echoes of Roman footsteps and the scent of sun-warmed stone? If you haven't already, head over to the Musée Réattu to start your adventure. Let’s bring these stories out of the shadows and into the light-one stop at a time!
