Bonjour and welcome! My name is Andy, and I’m delighted to be your digital tour guide today for “Aix-en-Provence Audio Tour: Echoes of Elegance and Artistry.” Don’t worry-no beret required, but if you’re feeling extra French, I say go for it.
We’ll be wandering through sunlit streets lined with plane trees, the air swirling with scents of fresh baguettes and roasted coffee from nearby cafés. Your journey will bring you face-to-face with centuries-old churches, grand mansions, elegant fountains, and the artistic energy that makes Aix-en-Provence truly special. There's a little classical charm, a splash of baroque drama, and, if you’re lucky, perhaps a whiff of lavender on the breeze.
For example, we’ll stroll through the historic Quartier Mazarin, then marvel at the beautiful Hotel de Caumont-one of my personal favorites! Later, we’ll discover the grandeur of the Mirabeau course and finish things off with a flourish at the International Festival of Lyric Art. So, expect to feast your eyes, ears, and maybe even your taste buds on some local surprises.
Here’s how it works: As you approach each stop, I’ll spring into action (digitally, at least-I left my running shoes at home). If you beat me there, just tap ‘play’ and I’ll catch up. If you ever feel unsure about your route, check the handy map in the app. And if you have burning questions-perhaps about history, architecture, or “Where’s the best croissant?”-just type them in the chat below. I promise not to get crumbs on your screen.
A quick note: Some stops feature churches and sacred sites, so if you’re planning to go inside, it’s a good idea to cover your shoulders and knees as a sign of respect. Sensible shoes and a bottle of water will also help, especially if the Provençal sun is turning up the heat.
Aix-en-Provence is best enjoyed with an open heart, a curious spirit, and-just in case-a handy camera. Mind the narrow streets and lively cafés; sometimes, a cyclist might sneak up on you faster than you can say “bonjour.”
If you haven’t set off yet, make your way to our very first stop, the Protestant Church of Aix-en-Provence. I’ll be waiting just outside, ready to start our adventure. Shall we begin?
