Now, about those precautions: Nicosia is friendly and relaxed, but look both ways when crossing busy streets, keep your valuables close-pickpockets don’t take vacations-and stay hydrated. The sun can be strong, so sunscreen, hats, and water are always good ideas. At a few stops, like the beautiful mosques, please dress respectfully-shoulders and knees covered is always a safe bet. Comfortable shoes are a must; the old city’s stones don’t make for a very forgiving runway!
